Steven G. Caron, Managing Director of Old School Capital, has been a professional investor, financier and analyst for over twenty-five years. In private practice, Mr. Caron has provided personal financial planning and investment advisory services, including consulting for private investors on the purchase and financing of a wide range of distressed assets. As Vice President and Investment Officer with top-tier banks in Boston, Mr. Caron supported entrepreneurs in venture capital, commercial lending and capital markets roles. He has extensive experience in providing credit to a range of major mutual fund complexes and their investment advisers.
Mr. Caron has been awarded the Personal Financial Specialist designation of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In addition to his membership in the AICPA and its Personal Financial Planning Section, Mr. Caron is a Fellow of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and has served on its Personal Financial Planning, Investment Companies and Human Resources & Benefits Committees. In 2005, he was invited to join the AICPA’s national CPA Ambassador Program. Mr. Caron maintains his CPA license with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. A member of the Association of CPA Financial Planners and the Financial Planning Association, he also participates in The Directors Roundtable.
Prior to earning his MBA with distinction at Boston College, he graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and gained professional experience with international accounting firms. In the academic realm, he earned memberships in the Alpha Lambda Delta, Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Sigma Nu collegiate honor societies.
Mr. Caron is associated with a number of local and regional community organizations, including serving as Treasurer, Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of The Professional Center for Handicapped Children, Inc., based in Andover, Massachusetts. This thirty-two-year old institution employs a budget of $3.5 million to provide programming to over one thousand children ranging in age from birth to seven years. Additionally, he sits on the Board of Directors of the Notre Dame High School of Lawrence and the Audit Committee of the Town of Andover, Massachusetts.
