Representative Assignments
In addition to comprehensive financial planning, Old School Capital personnel have completed a number of segmented engagements, including those described below, either on a stand-alone basis or as part of an on-going relationship.
• Rehabilitated a retirement portfolio that contained a selection of securities that can be fairly described as “uncompetitive, poorly diversified and expensive.”
• Assisted a high-end service professional in dramatically increasing tax-advantaged retirement savings.
• Created an education funding plan for a successful entrepreneur with sizable family responsibilities that integrated foreseeable foreign and domestic tuition payment considerations with investment, tax and asset control concepts.
• Advised the trustee for a young child on the relative merits of selecting between an up-front insurance settlement or a multi-year stream of payments, together with an investment allocation and education funding plan to ensure the child’s long-term future.
• Advised a client to avoid a “creative insurance solution” featuring a price tag of over $100,000 that offered -- by the proposing agent’s own ultimate admission -- minimal financial or other benefits to the client and her beneficiaries.
• Advised a family on one of its member’s nursing home placement, monitored Medicaid eligibility and assisted in the resolution of problems created by a previous advisor.
• Assisted a client in organizing and consolidating far-flung financial resources to bring order, strategy and progress to a stalled estate planning effort.
• Advised a surviving spouse in reconsidering the couple’s financial planning while assisting in the crush of administrative responsibilities generated by the spouse’s passing.
